Star is a 45 year old retired school teacher. She is divorced, 5 foot 4 inches tall. She will not tell you her weight, in fact, she will remind you that you should never ask a lady how much does she weigh. She lives in a motorhome with her 10 year old, golden retriever named Bailey. They normally travel around and camp. Star is use to having no electricity or running water at times and knows how to rough it. She knows how to handle a weapon and tools. In fact, in her divorce she was awarded the tool boxes and power tools along with the dog. She was a brownie and girl scout in her childhood, a hiker and camper in her teens and 20's, and a 2nd grade teacher in her 30's. Now she spends her time ghost hunting and searching for signs of Bigfoot and other creatures. Star does have a bit of a temper when she is threatened. She has no family support and is use to doing things on her own. She does suffer from asthma and feels that she might be weak in attack and defense, but feels intelligent enough to survive the coming 'end of the world' panic. She just hopes she has enough Pepsi for herself and Milk Bones for Bailey.

The End of the World
    by Star Andromeda Black

The weather has gone crazy! All those scientific experts out there think it's due to a sudden and end of the world, crazy shift in the climate of the earth. Ice caps are melting, oceans are rising, storms are getting more and more severe. Worst of all, it's happening everywhere, all at once! This might just be the end of the world as we all know it!

Star had just finished installing the new solar panels on top of the RV and was checking the back-up batteries in the storage compartment. Last month she had converted the motorhome engine to a new electric motor. It was running great. She was now making sure all the compartments were full with supplies and the water tanks were filled. She and her best friend Bailey, a golden retriever, were packed and ready to move to higher ground.

She had warned her friends and family to be prepared, but they thought she was nuts to believe the end of the world was really going to happen. She had been living this long without their help or support. She didn't need it now.  Her and Bailey had enough food and supplies to last at least 6 months packed away in her motorhome. It had a new engine that was part gas and part electric. It had solar panels attached to the roof and a few portable panels that were easy to set up. She had purchased a portable wind turbine and had it ready to go. The motorhome was completely off the grid. She knew she would need to save all her money for gas later and that prices for it would be ridiculous. But with careful planning she could survive for 6 months on what she had with her and adding her foraging and hunting skills she should be fine for the next year. Even Bailey had enough dog food and treats to keep him happy.

The motorhome was a old school bus converted into her dream home on wheels. She had even had a local garage put a dump truck chassis under it and she could drive this thing almost anywhere without getting stuck. It was almost a tank now and that is what she will need to survive on her own. Star and Bailey would be leaving as soon as she had a good nap. She knew her family would be stopping by tomorrow and she wanted to be gone before they got here. They had their chance and now it was gone. And Star would be too. She was moving inland to higher ground. She knew by watching the wildlife that is what they do in weather like this and she would put to use all the teachings from her Native American grandfather. Pop-pop was always taking her on hikes when she was little, teaching her which plants were edible, which ones were good for medicine and which ones to stay away from. He also taught her about water safety and how to make sure you didn't get sick from drinking or bathing in tainted water.

After her 5 hour nap, Star was ready to go. It was 11pm, a good time to hit the road, nobody would expect her to leave this late at night. By the time anybody showed up here she would be at least 400 miles away, she hoped. She let Bailey out to use go potty and then they were ready to go. She turned the RV on and set the GPS and headed west. She wishes someone would have wanted to go with her, but at least she had Bailey. It would be enough... she hoped. Good bye North Carolina, hello to whatever the Goddess has in store.
